Ignoring it is not the right answer. Every time you bring up your loss or your trauma or anything that has ever scarred you, you are allowing yourself to be vulnerable. You are showing the world that there is still a part of you that is okay enough to peel the mask away just a little bit.

We’ve heard so many therapists and supporters saying we should see the positive and beautiful sides of our bodies and ourselves

But that was just impossible for us, when our life and our minds were fully captured by the power of anorexia. We couldn’t see it, let alone think about it. However, small steps towards this idea were more feasible. We both thought a lot about it and discussed how we felt about our body and self image with each other.
